Earlier this week, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark suffered a quad injury that is set to keep the WNBA phenom out for about two weeks. And based on the ticket prices for the Fever’s first game without her, Clark remains key in growing the game’s popularity.
After Caitlin Clark’s injury, future ticket sales immediately dipped, as the June 7 matchup between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever fell 71%: before her injury, the cheapest seats were $86 — now they’re $25. The average ticket price also decreased from $210 to $95.
The WNBA is also feeling the fallout of Clark’s absence in the short term, too, as it cost just $6 — INCLUDING FEES — to get into the game between the Indiana Fever and Washington Mystics on Wednesday night. The Fever lost the game by a score of 83-77.

In their official statement announcing Clark’s injury, the Fever said she’ll be out “at minimum” a period of two weeks and confirmed they will “provide further updates as available, following re-evaluation.”
Clark has proven to once again by a ratings magnet in her second season, as the Fever’s opening game of the season against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky actually racked up a bigger audience than the New York Mets vs. New York Yankees game on Sunday Night Baseball that week.
