Do you remember Ines Gomez Mont, the Mexican news presenter who attended Super Bowl Media Day in 2008 wearing a wedding dress and asked New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady to marry her? She is making headlines again, though this time it has nothing to do with football.
Ines Gomez Mont, 43, was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on October 30 after being wanted for five years for allegedly helping to operate a $160 million fraud scheme. She and her husband, solicitor Victor Manuel Alvarez Puga, face charges of money laundering, organized crime and tax fraud.
The TV Host Who Proposed To Tom Brady Has Been Wanted Since 2021
In September 2021, the former host of TV Azteca’s Los 25+ and her husband were accused of embezzling tens of millions of dollars from the Mexican government. The pair left Mexico in 2021 after authorities issued arrest warrants.
People reported at the time that “local outlet TVNotas reported that the couple had fled the country upon learning that they were being investigated.”
According to The Sun, investigators say the couple participated in a scheme that used shell companies, fake invoices and fraudulent government contracts to divert over $160 million from Mexico’s Interior Ministry.
Her husband, who reportedly earned the nickname “King of the Invoice Mills,” is accused of helping run the scheme. The couple reportedly face between 20 and 60 years in prison if convicted of their crimes in Mexico.
Ines Gomez Mont has always denied the accusations, claiming that she never received any money from the contracts and was not involved in any crime.
“I repeat that I am innocent and this is an injustice,” she said on Instagram in 2021.
Ines Gomez Mont Arrested By ICE On Different Charges In Florida
ICE arrested Gomez Mont for violating immigration laws, not for the fraud allegations, according to Mexico News Daily. She is currently being held at the Broward Transitional Center in Florida while Mexican authorities attempt to bring her back to the country.
Her husband was also arrested by ICE in September 2025 for immigration issues. However, he was released on bail. It is unclear where he is now.

In 2008, Ines Gomez Mont became very well-known to American sports fans during Super Bowl XLII Media Day.
The Mexican TV presenter arrived wearing a wedding dress and veil and approached Tom Brady to ask him to marry her. She was single at the time. However, Brady was dating his future wife, Gisele Bündchen, at the time and turned her down.
19 years later, Ines Gomez Mont is back in the news. This time, however, she is in an immigration detention center.
