LeBron James gave fans a laugh with a hilarious quip about playing basketball in Saudi Arabia. The joke comes shortly after news broke of a massive offer from soccer club Al-Hilal for superstar Kylian Mbappe.
The internet has exploded with reaction to the Twitter activity as fans and media give their best responses to James’s hypothetical.
Earlier Monday morning, it was reported that Al-Hilal offered Mbappe $1.1 billion (with a “B”) to change teams. That offer included a $332 million transfer fee while the remaining $776 million would go directly towards the soccer player’s salary.
This was a one-year deal, which makes it even more mind-blowing.
The offer wasn’t the first of its kind. Al-Hilal previously targeted Lionel Messi but were spurned. He eventually landed in the United States, making his debut with Inter Miami in the MLS earlier this month.
The Saudis have been able to successfully infiltrate golf, tennis, and futbol as they seemingly throw boatloads of cash at every superstar on the planet.
James is hoping they look to basketball next.
On Monday evening, LeBron posted a message to Twitter joking about what he’d do with an offer from Saudi Arabia.
