What do you get when you cross a retired and very bored 16-year veteran of the National Football League and perhaps the world’s leading advocate of facial hair? You guessed it – yet another podcast.
Yes, this week – along with Jamie Martin, who played 16 years as a quarterback in the NFL on 98 different teams – I launched The UnderBelly sports and entertainment podcast which is available on iTunes and even a herpes-free version on Tinder.
So what the hell is The Underbelly all about? In a pill, it’s meant to provide an inside look at high level sports, uniquely unique insights, underwhelmingly underwhelming interviews, remarkably remarkable speculation and pop culture reports from the Pop-Queen, Jamie Pesek.
In launching our first episode, understand this may really, really suck. It’s a work in progress. Yet, we were able to cover quite a bit of ground, discussing the loss of mustache God Burt Reynolds (1:50), the disappearance of the running back in the NFL (5:30), the worst sports cities in America (7:40) and the business implications of Nike and Colin Kaepernick joining at the hip for the 30-year anniversary of “Just Do It” (22:30).
Plus, we answered “worthless questions” (29:00) from listeners and Jamie revealed NFL players don’t wear cups, we chatted up founder Scott Gulbransen of Silver & Black Today (32:50) covering all things Raiders, while pop-culture queen Jamie Pesek informed us about the Eminem and Machine Gun Kelly conundrum (56:00).
