Iowa Fans Are Huffing The World’s Strongest Copium After Shutout Loss To Penn State

Iowa Hawkeyes fans are down tremendously following their team’s 31-0 shutout loss at the hands of the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday night.

Sure, the Hawkeyes are 3-1 through their first four games. And, yes, Iowa might still be the best team in a putrid Big Ten West, with a legitimate path to an 11-1 record.

But the Hawkeyes’ offense is still, well, offensive. And it doesn’t appear things are going to turn around anytime soon.

This despite transfer quarterback Cade McNamara all but promising that the Iowa offense would be much improved in 2023.

“Please, just keep saying it’s the s******** offense in college football,” he said on The QB Room podcast. “Please just think we are going to be so s***** next year. Please.”

Iowa fans aren’t giving up, however. Instead, they’ve taken to the message boards where they insist the blowout loss was just a handful of plays from a victory.

“It could have been a different result, if…,” HawkeyeInsider.com poster AllIowaStar7 title his post.

He then listed the following ways Iowa could have won the game.

“1) All doesn’t fumble-bumble his first carry and we score a TD there.

2) The Iowa defense had Penn penned in on their first drive, got good field position, still nothing.

3) Refs for some reason, weren’t giving the calls to Iowa as the lame announcer said in the first half. (After missed face mask on Cade)

4) Ref mis-spotting the 4th down try that gave them gift by 2 inches.

Just sayin…in the early going, things could have been a lot different, at Penn.”

So, that’s all? Just those four things.

Never mind Iowa’s four first downs all game and 79 total yards.

But hey, if ifs and buts were coconuts…

Hang in there Iowa fans. One day you’ll have a real college football team. Maybe.
