Izayia Williams committed to play college football at Ole Miss on Friday. However, neither his agents nor his family knew he was going to do so.
He reportedly left them in the dark on his decision, again.
Williams is rated as a four- or five-star prospect in the college football recruiting Class of 2026. It depends on who you ask. Some recruiting outlets consider him to be on of the 10-best players at his positions. Others consider him to be the top player at his position.
Williams plays linebacker for Tavares High School in Florida at 6-foot-1.5, 215-pounds. He currently holds 37 offers from schools all over the country, ranging from Penn State, Georgia, Colorado, Oregon and Michigan to Western Kentucky, USF, and Sacramento State. There is no telling where he will end up until the ink dries on his financial agreement and/or National Letter of Intent.
The recruiting process has been an absolute rollercoaster.
Our saga begins on Nov. 20, 2023, when Izayia Williams committed to Louisville. That stuck for only a few months. He decommitted from the program on January 28, 2024.
Williams later visited Syracuse on April 2 and committed to the Orange on April 15. However, he kept his recruitment open and has since changed his mind three more times. Here is a timeline:
- June 13, 2024 — Unofficial visit to Florida
- August 4, 2024 — Decommit from Syracuse
- August 31, 2024 — Unofficial visit to Florida
- September 2, 2024 — Unofficial visit to Florida State
- September 4, 2024 — Commit to Florida State
- October 5, 2024 — Unofficial visit to Florida State
- October 26, 2024 — Unofficial visit to Miami
- November 7, 2024 — Decommit from Florida State
- January 18, 2025 — Visit to Florida State for Junior Day
- January 21, 2025 — Billy Napier in-home visit
- January 22, 2025 — Kirby Smart in-home visit
- March 6, 2025 — Commit to Florida
- April 26, 2025 — Official visit to Ole Miss
That leads us to May, 2025. Williams flipped his commitment from Florida to Ole Miss.

According to Corey Bender of On3, Williams did not inform his agents or his family of his decision to flip on Firday. This same thing happened when he committed to Florida!
Here are two words that best describe the situation on their side: Speechless and aggravated.

How long will this last? There is no way to know. Izayia Williams has six official visits scheduled for the months of May and June.
- May 17 — Penn State
- May 30 — Georgia
- June 6 — Alabama
- June 13 — Florida
- June 17 — Colorado
- June 20 — Florida State
Maybe, much like his commitments, those visits will not hold. Maybe Williams is set on playing for Pete Golding and the Rebels! We’ll see…
