Louisville quarterback Jack Plummer is set to start against Notre Dame on Saturday. It will be the third time that he has faced the Fighting Irish in three years. He was on a different team all three times.

Plummer, born on Oct. 21, 1999, will turn 24 years old later this month. This is his sixth year of college and it shows!

As a three-star recruit from Arizona, Plummer committed to Purdue out of high school in the college football recruiting Class of 2018. His first season was a redshirt year and all collegiate athletes received an additional year of eligibility during the 2020 season, which allowed him to play into 2023.

Plummer played in 21 games and made 13 starts in three years with the Boilermakers. One of his starts came against Notre Dame on Sept. 18, 2021.

Purdue lost by 14.

Plummer was later benched in favor of Aidan O’Connell and hit the transfer portal.

He used his one-time transfer to play for the University of California, Berkeley and started all 12 games for the Golden Bears. One of those games, on Sept. 17, 2022, was against Notre Dame.

Cal lost by seven.

Jack Plummer has another shot at Notre Dame!

Following the season, Plummer hit the portal again as a graduate transfer and landed at Louisville. His 65.2% completion percentage and 11 touchdowns has helped to lead the Cardinals to a 5-0 record.

They are currently ranked No. 25 in the country and will host the 10th-ranked Fighting Irish in Kentucky on Saturday. It will be Plummer’s third chance to topple the Golden Domers, with his third different team.

If the trend is to continue, Louisville is in a good spot. Plummer lost by 14 to Notre Dame in 2021 and lost by seven in 2022. Ties are not possible in college football, so the next progression would be a win.

For Jack Plummer to beat the Fighting Irish in his third try with his third team would be pretty crazy!
