With another 100 MPH pitch in the third inning of Tuesday’s game, Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski accomplished something in one season that no pitcher has ever done over an entire career.
The 100 MPH fastball to Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki was the 1,000th pitch that Jacob Misiorowski has thrown during the 2026 season. He finished the game with 1,010 of them.
While Statcast only has pitch data going back to 2008, it is pretty safe to say that no one has ever done that before. In fact, it is pretty safe to say no one has come even close.
Why? Because in the years since they first started tracking pitch data, no pitcher has even thrown 1,000 pitches at 100 MPH in their entire career, let alone in a single season.
According to The Athletic, only three players (all relief pitchers) have even thrown over 500 100 MPH pitches in one season: Aroldis Chapman in 2015 and 2016, Jordan Hicks in 2018, and Mason Miller in 2024.
Jacob Misiorowski is doing things that no one has come even close to doing
Think that’s crazy? No single TEAM has ever had its entire staff of hurlers throw 1,000 pitches over 100 MPH in a single season. The previous record by a team was 673, all thrown by Hicks in 2018.
Here’s another stunning stat about The Miz. Jacob Misiorowski has thrown more 100 MPH pitches this season than 20 teams have in the entire Statcast era. Not bad for the 63rd overall pick in the 2022 Major League Baseball draft.
“That’s how I throw. I don’t know what to tell you,” Misiorowski said after the game about reaching the milestone. “It’s cool. It’s one of those things when I’m done with my career, then I’ll think about it. Right now, that’s what I do. I throw hard. The guys on the other side expect that.”
