Eagles’ Quarterback Jalen Hurts Throws Mind-Boggling Interception, Perfect Season Over

On a day full of upsets in the NFL, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was a big reason for one of them, as his back-breaking interception with the Eagles leading with under two minutes remaining was the difference in the previously 5-0 Eagles’ upset loss to the Jets, 20-14.

Take a look at the interception. He’s looking tight end Dallas Goedert on 3rd down to all but seal the game for the Eagles. Instead, he’s way late to throw it, and it’s into double coverage off his back foot. All that adds up to bad news for Eagles fans.

Yeah, that’s not good at all. Especially considering the other team’s offense is not particularly good, and a punt pins them deep in their own territory against the Eagles’ pass rush. A turnover there is just a killer.

Just how devastating was it? Prior to the play, the Eagles had a win percentage of around 84%. After the play and the Jets’ touchdown run on the ensuing play, it was at 95% for the Jets.

It was one of three interceptions on the day for Jalen Hurts, who did not have a good game. His play was noticeably worse when star right tackle Lane Johnson left the game due to injury, but that’s something that plenty of quarterbacks deal with every week.

Meanwhile, New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson avoided the big mistake and may have outplayed Hurts. He was solid-but-not-spectacular 19/33 for 186 yards and no touchdowns along with no interceptions. In no way is he some bona fide starter now. But, he does look more comfortable than he did a few weeks ago.

The Eagles play the Dolphins next week, while the Jets play a “road” game against the New York Giants.
