Earlier this week, Rory McIlroy proved he’s one of the softest golfers in the game when he complained about the rise of sports betting because he’s afraid it’ll increase the number of hecklers on the course.
As I mentioned when I initially covered the story, golfers have the luxury of not really having to deal with the trash talk most athletes encounter on a game-to-game basis; after all, it’s not like they’re constantly having to deal with their playing partners getting in their ear when they’re playing a round.
However, most people who play other sports understand the value of some good ol’ fashioned shit-talking, whether we’re talking about Kawhi Leonard or Michael Jordan, the latter of whom mastered the art of getting under the skin of his opponents.
However, there are plenty of other ways of psyching out your competitor that don’t involve running your mouth and I don’t know if I’ve come across anyone who’s come up with a more savage strategy than Jalen Ramsey.
According to Complex, the current Jaguar and former Florida State cornerback recently appeared on the podcast Bussin’ With the Boys, where he revealed what he described as the “super grimey” strategy he used to harness to fuck with opposing players ahead of games during his time as a Seminole:
“Say I was playing a big receiver at whatever school, I would look up his Instagram, see his girlfriend whatever, boom, boom, boom. I’d probably go slide in her DMs.”
