Ja’Marr Chase refused to take any blame for another close loss on Sunday. The Cincinnati Bengals star pointed all 10 of his fingers and toes in the direction of head coach Zac Taylor.

It was not hard to figure out who Chase finds responsible for the frustrating failures of a team with Super Bowl hopes prior to the season.

Cincinnati is 4-7 by a combined total of 43 points. The Bengals lost to the Patriots by six, Chiefs by one, Commanders by five, Ravens by three (in overtime), Ravens by one and Chargers by seven. Their only loss that was not a one-possession game was to the Eagles by 20.

For whatever reason, they cannot finish and Sunday was yet another disheartening example. Los Angeles went 84 yards on four plays in 27 seconds to score what became the game-winning touchdown with 18 seconds left. Cincinnati’s offense was on fire during the third and early fourth quarters but stalled out when it mattered most. Evan McPherson also missed two field goals in the final eight minutes.

Joe Burrow finished 28-of-50 for 356 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. Chase had seven catches for 75 yards and two scores. Everything was clicking until it didn’t.

When asked about what happened, one of the brightest stars in the NFL deferred to the coaching staff.

Yikes! Chase did not try to feign any positivity whatsoever and refused to be held responsible for Zac Taylor’s failures.

The 24-year-old wide receiver’s comments were not too dissimilar from what Carlos Dunlap said about Taylor and his staff in 2021, though under different circumstances. Cincinnati promptly traded Dunlap to the Seattle Seahawks after he expressed his frustration. It was a calculated decision to ship him off.

Ja’Marr Chase is not going to be traded for speaking out but this is now something to watch. How are the Bengals going to handle this situation? Is Taylor on his way out if he doesn’t turn things around in a hurry?
