Jason Heyward just made Cubs fans momentarily co-sign the eight-year, $184 million contract he signed in the off season. Heyward has been offensively inept this season, not registering his first gomer until mid-May. Granted, Heyward is no stranger to getting off to sluggish starts and this year he’s been plagued with a wrist injury, but the pitfalls of getting absolutely silly cash before throwing on the teams’ uniform is that people have no empathy for injuries.
The silver lining for the Cubbies is that Heyward has been a stud in the field, evident in this laser from today’s game against the Mets.
