Jennifer Garner, one of Ben Affleck’s ex-wives, no longer wants to be in contact with the newest of his ex-wives, Jennifer Lopez. The reason for Garner’s desire to sever communication ties, according to alleged insiders, is because the actress feels like she was “used as a pawn” by J. Lo during her recent public divorce from Affleck.
Earlier this year, Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Lopez were seen spending time together in the Hamptons. This followed reports from May that suggested Lopez was confiding in Garner about her ongoing split from Affleck, which became official in August.
Now, however, Garner — who appeared as Elektra in this summer’s Deadpool & Wolverine — “no longer wishes” to speak with Lopez outside of matters that pertain to her children.
“Garner no longer wishes to be in contact with Jennifer Lopez, according to sources who claim the actress will only communicate with the singer if it is about her children. Insiders previously said that Garner, 52, felt like she was used as a ‘pawn’ during the breakdown of Lopez’s marriage to Ben Affleck.”
“Jen no longer wishes to have communication with JLo unless it is do with the kids. Her friends feel she shouldn’t have allowed herself to get so involved in helping JLo to fix her marriage to Ben. Especially considering Jen felt pitted against JLo at times during their own marriage. Jen is too nice and truly wanted to help, so she tried,” a source said. [via The Daily Mail]
This is the second report this week to suggest that Lopez has been trying to use members of Affleck’s family to maintain a relationship with him, as it was previously reported that Lopez is pushing for the family to spend the holidays for the kids’ sake — a plea that Affleck reportedly “isn’t buying.”
Garner, 52 years old, was married to Affleck from 2005 until their divorce in 2018. The pair have three children together: Violet, Fin, and Samuel. According to reports from earlier this year, Affleck was worried about Lopez’s relationship with Violet, born in 2005, made their divorce “tricky.”
