Don’t Believe Your Eyes: Jeremy Lin Didn’t Travel on This Play

The definition of traveling in the NBA is very fluid. Stars are afforded the latitude to really push the envelope with their lack of dribbling and uniform enforcement of the rule went away a long time ago.

But to anyone who watched the Houston Rockets-Portland Trail Blazers game last night and thought they witnessed the most egregious non-travel call in professional basketball history: you’re mistaken.

No, Jeremy Lin did not take seven steps before this layup attempt. Due to the positioning of TNT’s camera, his singular dribble went undetected.

It still makes for a pretty hilarious clip, though. Hell, LeBron James should try to see if he could get away with a similar move. The odds are likely somewhere around 50-50.
