In a fiery social media post, Jets offensive lineman Billy Turner launched a scathing attack on Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton in response to his recent critical comments about the 2022 Broncos and this year’s Jets.

Payton, in an interview with USA Today’s Jarrett Bell, didn’t mince words when discussing the Jets and their approach for the upcoming season. He expressed skepticism about their strategy and compared them to the ill-fated “Dream Team” experiment led by former Washington owner Dan Snyder.

Additionally, Payton did not hold back when analyzing the 2022 Broncos, branding them as one of the worst-coached teams ever.

Billy Turner, who played for the Broncos last year under Nathaniel Hackett’s coaching and now finds himself as part of the Jets squad with Hackett as their offensive coordinator, felt the need to respond to Payton’s remarks.

In a now-deleted social media post, Turner directly addressed Payton, saying, “Seems like someone started training camp and is trying to soften the blow after realizing what he’s in for this season.

F——- bum.” Turner’s post was accompanied by hashtags “Childish” and “BountyGate,” a reference to the scandal that led to Payton’s suspension during his tenure as head coach of the Saints.

The exchange of words between the two teams has set the stage for an intense matchup when the Jets visit Denver in Week 5 of the 2023 season.

Given the recent verbal jabs, it’s expected to be one of the most-discussed games of the NFL season.

Billy Turner has a history with Nathaniel Hackett, having played under him during his stints with the Packers and the Broncos. The strong relationship between Turner and Hackett likely fueled his protective response to Payton’s comments about the Broncos’ coaching in 2022.
