The New York Jets are bad. The Washington Commanders are also bad. Who’s worse? Well, on Christmas Eve, we’ll find out, as the two infamously haphazard franchises will be facing off in a football game so ugly that only a mother could love it.

Not only do both teams have nothing to play for other than professionalism and pride, but the suggests also suggest that this is set to be a particularly putrid matchup, as the Jets boast the NFL’s bottom-ranked (32nd out of 32) offense, while the Commanders have the league’s worst defense.

Potentially making the Jets offense worse is the fact that “starting” quarterback Zach Wilson could miss the game due to a concussion, meaning the team will be forced to turn to Trevor Siemian, who looked like there was a reason he was previously washed out of the league when called upon to fill in for Wilson against the Miami Dolphins over the weekend.

Despite all of this, the Jets are actually favored in the matchup by three points, likely due to the fact that they’re the home team. However, given that the game is being played on Christmas Eve and the Jets have been eliminated from playoff contention, there’s more than a decent chance that MetLife Stadium will be virtually empty on Sunday afternoon.

As for the Commanders, their issues are compounded by the fact that they’re being led by a lame-duck head coach in Ron Rivera who is all but guaranteed to be fired by the organization as soon as the season ends.

Currently, the over/under for the Jets vs. Commanders matchup is at 37.5, which feels a bit high considering both teams combined to score just 20 points in Week 14.
