The Jets are considering trading two of their key players, running back Dalvin Cook and defensive end Carl Lawson, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.

Lawson was a healthy scratch against the Broncos on Week 5 and has seen limited playing time this season, with only 52 defensive snaps.

Russini points out that trading for Lawson make sense especially considering he took a pay cut in the offseason. With 27 career sacks, it seems he’s on his way out.

On the other hand, there is the possibility of a trade involving Cook, a four-time Pro Bowler. While it seems less likely than Lawson’s departure, Russini reported the team is “possibly open” to it.

Cook has seen just 30% of the offensive snaps this season, playing behind the younger Breece Hall, Despite signing a 1-year, million deal with .8 million guaranteed before the season.

Cook’s stats so far this season haven’t been great, with only 97 yards on 36 carries, averaging poor 2.7 yards per carry and scoring zero touchdowns.

For perspective, Hall, who’s coming off a serious season-ending knee injury, has ran the ball 54 times for 387 yards, with a much more impressive 7.2 yards per carry.

In addition to Lawson and Cook, Dianna also mentions that WR Mecole Hardman is available for a trade, something we already learned a few days ago. She suggests that his former team the Chiefs could be a logical suitor for Hardman.

The trade deadline is coming up at the end of the month and the 2-3 Jets still have hopes to making the playoffs despite their rough start. Who knows? maybe Aaron Rodgers will comeback late in the season like he said. The Jets seem to be open to exploring their options.
