Dalvin Cook had a great tenure with the Minnesota Vikings from 2017-2022. But, his first year with the New York Jets has not gone nearly as well.

And, the running back has made it known he’s unhappy in New York, and would not be sad if the team traded him away.

Here’s more, according to Pro Football Talk.

Cook repeatedly said “it’s frustrating” when talking to reporters today, and he added that trade talks might be beneficial for everyone involved.

“It’s something I can’t control, that my name is being floated around in trade rumors,” Cook said. “It might be a good thing, might be a bad thing.”

He’s an interesting trade candidate for a few reasons. First, the former Florida State Seminole has been an incredibly productive player during his career. He has just under 9,000 total yards through his first 6+ years in the league. From 2019-2022, Dalvin Cook had four straight 1000-yard seasons, including 1,557 in 2020, second-best in the league. He’s always been a good player out of the backfield, too, and has been known as a complete running back.

But, he has been dinged up a little bit over the years, and the Minnesota Vikings did not want to pay him this offseason. Frankly, no one wanted to pay him for a while, and it wasn’t until early September that the Jets gave him a one-year deal worth $7 million.

Unfortunately for the Jets and Cook, he’s been awful. He’s averaging just 2.8 yards per carry with 109 rushing yards on the season to go along with 46 receiving yards. Meanwhile, Breece Hall is averaging over six yards per carry in the same offense.

Still, I think there would be a few times that would be wise to trade for Dalvin Cook. The Buffalo Bills are one team that comes to mind.
