The New York Jets’ 2024 season began with expectations of competing for a Super Bowl and is ending in disaster — not only have the Jets lost 7 of their last 8 games and currently sit at 3-9, but they’re finding historic ways to lose those games.
Following their latest loss, a 26-21 home defeated to Geno Smith (a quarterback whom they drafted that made sure to troll them after the game) and the Seattle Seahawks, one of the Jets longtime beat reporters took to social media to underline just how bad Gang Green has been thus season.
As pointed out by ESPN’s Rich Cimini, the Jets are the first team in the Super Bowl era to go 3-9 in their first 12 games despite being favored in eight of them. Translation: not only are the Jets losing but they’re losing to teams that bookmakers believe they should be beating.
“Here’s one way to look at the #Jets disappointing season: They’re the first team in the Super Bowl era to be favored in 9 of their first 12 games and be 3-9 or worse. No other 3-9 team had even been favored in 8 of their first 12 games,” ESPN’s Jets beat reporter Rich Cimini noted after Gang Green’s Week 13 home loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Considering all of the resources invested in and power given to Aaron Rodgers within the Jets organization, it’s undeniable that he’s the face of this current Gang Green catastrophe, with reports indicating that the 41-year-old quarterback will not return to the franchise next season, likely leading to his retirement unless another NFL team is stupid enough to hitch their wagon to him.
Through 12 games this season, Rodgers has completed 62.5% of his passes for 2,627 yards, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
