Jets and star DT Quinnen Williams have reached a groundbreaking contract agreement, solidifying his future with the team.

Williams, who was selected as the 3rd overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, has agreed to a four-year contract extension with the Jets, according to the NFL Network.

This deal is reported to be worth a staggering $96 million, with an impressive $66 million guaranteed.

Quinnen Williams is fresh off an outstanding season, earning his first All-Pro honors. He demonstrated his prowess by starting 16 of 17 games and accumulating impressive statistics including 12 sacks, 28 quarterback hits, and 12 tackles for a loss.

While the full details of the contract are yet to be disclosed, the overall value and annual average of Williams’ contract surpasses those of his fellow 2019 first-round draft mates, including Titans Jeffery Simmons, Bills Ed Oliver and Giants Dexter Lawrence, who recently signed their extensions during the offseason.

Only the Rams’ superstar defensive tackle Aaron Donald boasts a higher per-year average among interior defensive linemen.

Throughout his career, Williams has showcased his ability to disrupt opposing offenses, tallying 27.5 sacks, 60 quarterback hits, and 33 tackles for loss.

The new contract grants Williams the distinction of receiving the largest guarantee in Jets franchise history, surpassing the previous record held by C.J. Mosley at $51 million. This figure also establishes a new record for the highest average per year in Jets history.

With this contract extension, Quinnen Williams becomes the first Jets player selected in the first round since Muhammad Wilkerson in 2011 to sign a second contract with the organization. It is worth noting that no Jets first-round picks from 2012 to 2018 were able to secure second contracts with the team.

This significant milestone reflects the Jets’ faith in Williams’ abilities and their commitment to building a formidable defensive unit.

The agreement between Quinnen Williams and the Jets not only solidifies the team’s defensive line but also serves as a testament to Williams’ exceptional performance and potential.

As the Jets enter the upcoming season, they can rely on Williams’ disruptive presence and his ability to create havoc in opposing backfields.
