Jim Harbaugh finally has the Michigan Wolverines rolling right near the top of the college football world. But, according to 247 sports’ Josh Pate, he had a concrete offer to join the NFL last year.

Ironically, Harbaugh was nearly fired from Michigan after the 2020 season in which the Wolverines went 2-4. The program had been backsliding since coming within a few inches of the Big Ten East title, and he had yet to beat Ohio State.

Since then, they’ve been the best team in the Big Ten without a doubt. Michigan and Jim Harbaugh have repeated as Big Ten Champions, including a perfect 13-0 season last year through the Big Ten Championship Game. They’ve lost two years in a row in the College Football Playoff Semifinals, but they are widely considered to be one of the favorites to win the national title this year.

Harbaugh, who had the 49ers on the brink of winning Super Bowl XLVII before things flamed out in San Francisco, is always linked with NFL rumors. 247 Sports college football podcast host Josh Pate claimed on his show, Late Kick with Josh Pate, that Harbaugh did in fact have a concrete offer from one team he flirted with last year, the Denver Broncos.

That’s not what Michigan fans want to hear, considering the high level that Jim Harbaugh has the program operating at right now.

Michigan opens their season September 2nd against East Carolina at home.
