Jim Harbaugh’s time at Michigan could be coming to an end. The head coach has been rumored to be a candidate for NFL jobs, and if offered, it’s reported that he’ll jump.

What Harbaugh’s done in Ann Arbor has been impressive. Over the last two seasons, the Wolverines have gone 25-3 with a pair of College Football Playoff appearances.

He was able to end an eight-game losing skid to archrival Ohio State. That series had been dominated by the Buckeyes over the last 20 seasons, as Michigan posted just a 3-17 mark from 2000-2020. Fast forward to the last two years, and the Wolverines have bested the Buckeyes twice which helped elevate them into national championship contention.

Unfortunately, the program’s first pair of playoff appearances didn’t go as planned. In 2021, the Wolverines were blown out by Georgia. This year, they were upset by TCU as a touchdown favorite.

The most recent appearance was thought to be Michigan’s best chance to land a title. Instead, the team could be starting over following the devastating defeat.

Jim Harbaugh has been linked to pro jobs, and many believe he’ll leave Ann Arbor for another shot in the NFL. Harbaugh previously coached the 49ers for four seasons, leading San Francisco a Super Bowl appearance in 2012. He lost to his brother, John, in that title matchup.

But opportunity comes calling, and Jim Harbaugh might think he’s done all he can at Michigan. Here’s what NFL insider Bruce Feldman reported on Monday.

“I think it is a done deal if he gets an offer.”

The news has taken social media by storm, with fans posting reactions to the news online. Some are happy while others are unsurprisingly upset.

One person wrote, “I’d really like to see Jim coach in the NFL again… was one of my favorite NFL coaches to watch.”

Another fan commented, “Pretty fascinated by this. Makes the playoffs twice, beats Ohio state 2 years in a row, has a young QB with talent and now decides it’s the time to go. Make it make sense!”

It’s not the first time he’s been rumored to headed to the NFL. Just last year he reportedly interviewed with the Vikings.

Harbaugh’s been linked to multiple openings in the NFL for the upcoming season, with the Broncos being the most notable. Time will tell if he decides to jump back up to the professional ranks or sticks around with the Wolverines.
