Rumors are taking over the internet following some social media activity from Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler and music star Shakira. The two recently followed one another on Instagram, a day after she showed up in South Beach for the Heat-Celtics playoff series.
Fans have been quick to comment on the situation as they try to find an answer about a potential relationship.
Butler and the Heat have taken the NBA by storm this offseason. After landing the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference, Miami has reeled off upsets over top seeded Milwaukee and fourth-seeded New York.
The momentum has continued into the Conference Finals as they find themselves up 3-1 in their series with the Boston Celtics.
Butler has been a big part of this unexpected run as he’s been arguably the best performer in the NBA Playoffs. Through 14 games, the star forward is averaging 29.9 points per game while adding 6.9 boards, 2.1 steals, and 5.6 assists a night.
As he continues to stay hot on the floor, rumors about the NBAer are now gaining steam away from it.
Singer and performer Shakira was spotted in American Airlines Arena this week to take in Game 4 of the Heat-Celtics series. A day later, she was following the Miami star on Instagram.
That follow was reciprocated by Butler.

Fans online have been quick to react.
One person said, “If Jimmy Butler and Shakira get together, I want a statue built IMMEDIATELY.”
“If Jimmy Butler gets Shakira and a ring this year, I might build a shrine,” this tweet read.
While social media continues to speculate, Butler is worried about closing out the Eastern Conference Finals. The Heat travel back to Boston after dropping Game 4. They still sit one game win from an NBA title opportunity.
