For better or for worse, one of the main reasons that NFL fans were rooting for the Cincinnati Bengals — other than the fact that everyone seems to adore Joe Burrow and America loves an underdog — is that the football world was tired of seeing the antics of Mahomes’ girlfriend Brittany Matthews (and his brother Jackson, for that matter).
While Matthews has been making headlines for a few years now — we’ve written dozens of articles about her over the last few years — her divisiveness seemed to reach a breaking point last week when she was recorded spraying fans with champagne following the Kansas City Chiefs win over the Buffalo Bills last weekend. Matthews certainly didn’t shy away from the controversy, either, as she even had t-shirts made that read “Team Brittany” (to her credit, the proceeds went to charity).
On the other side of the celebration spectrum, though, is Joe Burrow’s girlfriend Olivia Holzmacher, who — unlike Matthews and the younger Mahomes — didn’t make any headlines for being obnoxious following the Bengals AFC Championship victory and instead just enjoyed the game like any normal fan would by simply posting a couple of Instagram photos.
Following their victory over the two-time defending AFC champion Chiefs, Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals will take on Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI at SoFi Stadium in California on Sunday, February 13. At the time of this writing, the Los Angeles Rams have opened as four-point favorites over the Bengals, who have been underdogs in their last two games.
