While Joe Burrow has obviously ascended to the top of the football world thanks to his on-the-field play, a massive part of Burrow’s rise has been his personality and demeanor, which seem to always be consistent regardless of the situation.
More so than most quarterbacks at his age, Burrow just seems to be grounded in a way that few other athletes are, which not only has its benefits in the game but also in general life. This is a young man who obviously hasn’t forgotten where he’s come from, as evidenced by the fact that he reached out to his high school quarterback coach to gift him tickets to Super Bowl LVI on Sunday.
“Sunday afternoon, Joe called and said, ‘Coach … sorry for the late notice, but I came up with a couple more tickets if you and Sarah want to go this weekend,'” Nathan White, who was Burrow’s quarterback coach at Athens High School, recalled.
“Of course, I said this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me. I hope it’s not for him. I hope he gets to do it 10 more times. Obviously, we accepted and we’re flying out there Friday morning.” [via WBRZ]
Burrow, in just his second season in the National Football League, will lead the Bengals into Super Bowl LVI against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, February 13. At the time of this writing, the Bengals are four-point underdogs in the game, which is likely just fine with them as they were underdogs in their matchups against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game and against the Tennessee Titans in the divisional round.
