Former Texas A&M star and 2012 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel had a message for the Texas Longhorns football program Monday night.

Following the Longhorns’ loss to the Washington Huskies in the College Football Playoff, Manziel broke out the oft-used rallying cry of Texas fans that the Longhorns are “back” and used it against them.

“11/30/2024 we’ll see just how back you guys are,” Johnny Manziel wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

It has been over 12 years since the Longhorns played the Aggies. Back then, both Texas and Texas A&M were each still in the Big 12 Conference.

Manziel, who redshirted his freshman year in 2011, never got to play the Longhorns while he was an Aggie.

In 2012, Texas A&M moved to the Southeastern Conference, putting a temporary end to the rivalry which dates back to the year 1894.

In 2024, Texas will be rejoining the Aggies as they make the move to the SEC.

That means the two schools will once again be able to play one another with their upcoming 2024 tilt being the 119th time the two will have met.

Texas owns a 76-37-5 lead in the rivalry and are 12-5 over their last 17 meetings.

However, from 1984 to 1994, Texas A&M won 10 out of 11 games against the Longhorns.

In another tweet on Monday night, FanDuel posted a question to fans asking them to choose one of four college greats: Tim Tebow, Cam Newton, Lamar Jackson, and Johnny Manziel.

“All in their COLLEGE FOOTBALL PRIME … Cut one,” the betting site wrote.

Showing humility, Johnny Football replied, “Imma go ahead and cut myself in this matchup.”

Manziel might just be selling himself short there, however.

Tim Tebow won two national championships, a Heisman and accounted for 145 total touchdowns.

Cam Newton accounted for more than 4,300 total yards and 50 touchdowns during his best (and really only) season.

Lamar Jackson passed for more than 3,500 yards and rushed for over 1,500 in a single season twice.

Johnny Football, on the other hand, broke the record for total yards in a single SEC season (previously held by Tebow and then Newton) with over 5,100 yards in his freshman year.

In his sophomore year, he surpassed Newton’s previous record again and ended up scoring 93 touchdowns in just two seasons.

Based on those numbers, it certainly wouldn’t be incorrect to choose one of those other players when deciding which one to cut.
