Jordan Faison went behind-the-back to help Notre Dame go back-to-back in college lacrosse on Monday. The Fighting Irish’s star wide receiver scored a filthy goal en route to his program’s second-straight national championship.

His freshman year as a two-sport athlete was a great success!

Faison, a 5-foot-11, 181-pound midfielder, committed to Notre Dame lacrosse out of high school. He was one of the top recruits at his position and received a partial (~25%) scholarship from Kevin Corrigan, head coach of the reigning national champions.

However, the Florida-native quickly became a key piece of the puzzle as a football player.

Faison arrived to South Bend and walked on to Marcus Freeman’s program as a scout team wide receiver. It was unlikely that he would see the field in any capacity until an injury bug struck the Fighting Irish halfway through the 2023 college football season.

Even though he was not even ranked as a football recruit, Faison was thrust into action against Louisville on October 7. His second-career catch was a 36-yard touchdown from Sam Hartman. It was not his last!

Faison made 19 catches for 322 yards and four scores during his freshman year. He was named MVP of the Sun Bowl after posting his first 100-yard receiving day with five catches for 115 yards and a touchdown.

As soon as football season ended, Faison picked up his wand and joined his initial program for preseason practice. By NCAA rule, Freeman had to put him on scholarship with the football team as soon as he got on the field. So, technically, he is now a walk-on with the lacrosse team.

Jordan Faison helped lead Notre Dame to a national title!

The freshman phenom set a school record in his first college lacrosse game and his football teammates saw him score a slick behind-the-back goal in March. His head coach later saw him do it again on the biggest stage!

Notre Dame went 15-1 en route to the national championship game on Memorial Day.

The school’s head football coach made the trip to Philly to watch his breakout star wide receiver play. Freeman sat up in the box while the freshman pass-catcher played a crucial role in the win.

Here’s another look:

The Golden Domers won their second-straight national championship by a score of 15-5. They will have reload at a lot of different positions in the offseason, but Jordan Faison is set to return as a sophomore after a truly remarkable first year in both football and lacrosse. He is a two-sport superstar!
