The internet loves to meme on Washington Wizards guard Jordan Poole. It’s sometimes hard to remember that he was a crucial piece of an NBA title team with the Golden State Warriors in 2022.

That’s because, the guard continually is involved in boneheaded situations, whether that’s on the court or off the court. That’s exactly what happened during the Wizards’ loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday.

With Washington trailing just 127-123 with roughly 30 seconds remaining, Jordan Poole had the ball with a transition opportunity to bring the Wizards closer. Instead, he had one of the funniest carrying violations you’ll see.

Do you know how hard it is to get called for a carry in the modern NBA? There was no way officials could ignore that one. That’s a move they took out of the classic NBA Street games because it was too unrealistic.

I’m also completely confused why he did that. He looked like a kid playing youth basketball who hasn’t learned to dribble with his off-hand. If he just does a crossover, he’s almost certainly by Herb Jones, lays it in, and cuts the lead to two with plenty of time remaining. Classic Jordan Poole.

Of course, his most notable incident was a dust-up with Draymond Green, when they were teammates with the Warriors. That resulted in Jordan Poole getting punched by the notorious Warriors hothead.

Jordan Poole was traded from the Warriors to the Wizards in order for Golden State to acquire Chris Paul this summer. The Wizards are terrible at 9-45. And, Poole has been awful. He’s averaging 15 points a game on truly dreadful 39.9% shooting from the field and 29% from three.

The Pelicans won, 133-126.
