Four-star defensive back Jorden Edmonds was expected to make his college football commitment on his birthday – February 19th. He’s now pushed that pledge at his mom’s insistence.

He’s long been considered an Alabama lean. There’s now some doubt as to whether the Crimson Tide will land his signature.

Edmonds is considered the fifth-best cornerback in the 2026 recruiting class according to 247 Sports. He’d boasted offers from major programs all over the country but narrowed his list of contenders down to five schools.

Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Tennessee were the finalists most heavily involved with the Tide believed to be the frontrunner. It was expected that he’d commit to play in Tuscaloosa this month. That’s now changed!

Jorden Edmonds has pushed back his commitment date. A reschedule date for the reveal has not yet been set. Since making the decision to put his pledge on hold, he’s received offers from LSU, Miami, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Ohio State and Notre Dame according to his X account.

That postponement was music to his mother’s ears. She spoke with 247 Sports at the Under Armour Atlanta regional in January. Janae Edmonds urged her son to take his time.

“I’m a little worried because you want him to go through the whole process. You don’t want to rush something so big… I think he’s exhausted, I think he’s overwhelmed with all of it. He missed the whole first week of school (this semester) because he was away for the Navy All-American Bowl. When all the college coaches came to visit him (in January), it was a concentrated time.

“Things are evolving. I want him to continue going through the process.”

Jorden Edmonds heeded that advice. He’s waiting to make his decisions as the recruiting process continues to play out. Given that delay, a few more programs have made their pitches.

With all of that being said, Alabama remains high on the list for the talented defender. He took an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa earlier this month. We’ll see if the Crimson Tide can stay out in front.
