Recently retired UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal, who knows a thing or two about violence, is bringing an extremely violent event to South Florida this weekend.

Masvidal’s GameBred FC will host the state’s first sanctioned MMA event at FLA live arena on Cinco De Mayo.

“I started in Miami bare-knuckle, but when it was illegal, and it’s come full 360,” said Masvidal. “We’re doing it pro, we’re doing it legal and no gloves. and these guys are going for the death and nothing else.”

Masvidal explained to us the difference between regular MMA and bare-knuckle MMA.

“It’s just different when you take the gloves off, because you’re sending bullets that way, but there’s also bullets coming back. The cuts happen easier. It’s quicker to break somebody’s face.

“Submissions are easier to apply as well, so it’s harder to defend them. It’s the same sport, but it’s also, at the same time, very different. The stakes just get raised a lot higher when those gloves come off. It gets brutal when you take the gloves off.”

GameBred FC’s first card in Florida features five UFC veterans including Roy “Big Country” Nelson. Also on the card is former PFL champion Emiliano Sordi and MMA legend Charles “Krazy Horse’ Bennett.

The 12-fight event will be broadcast for free live at 8:00pm ET via Jorge Masvidal’s Youtube and Facebook pages, plus the Gambred Promotions YouTube and Gamebred FC Facebook pages.

The event takes place at the FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida, with tickets available through Ticketmaster.
