Jose Calderon Played A Total Of Zero Minutes For The Warriors And Got Paid $207,500 Per Hour

José Calderón should be in prison for robbing the Golden State Warriors. In March, Calderón was waived from the Los Angeles Lakers, a tough break for the Spanish-born guard. The Warriors decided to scoop him up, but not for long. After Kevin Durant suffered a possible season-ending knee injury, the Warriors felt they needed a forward instead of a point guard to fill Durant’s role. The Warriors dropped Calderón after one day but still honored their agreement with him.

For the two hours Calderón was on the team, the Warriors agreed to pay him as if he was on the squad for the entire year–$415,000 for 119 minutes on the roster, 0 minutes on the court, $207,500 per hour.

The wonderful part in all this is that Calderón is now technically an NBA Champion. Charles Barkley was a former MVP and played in the league for nearly two decades without a ring. Calderón snaked his way to a title.

Now I believe that team’s have complete autonomy over who gets a ring and who doesn’t, so it is extremely unlikely Calderón will get one, but the mere fact that its possible is criminal.

The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
