J.R. Smith Is Going To Make Bank Selling ‘Arthur’ Meme Hats

Last week, LeBron James sparked some major drama after he posted a picture of the closed fist of the eponymous aardvark from Arthur on Instagram because we have apparently reached a point where the only way for people to convey their emotions is by passive-aggressively uploading screenshots from television shows meant for children. Most people believed James’ ways conveying his frustration about the outstanding play of ex-teammate Kyrie Irving, who jumped into the comments to stir the pot a little bit more.

The Rockets decided to jump into the fray when they posted a hype video for their game against the Cavaliers (a matchup they ended up winning), and while most memes have a definite shelf life, it appears the trend isn’t going to go away anytime soon.

The infinitely entertaining J.R. Smith has decided to capitalize on the dramatics in the best way possible. He recently posted a picture of hats emblazoned with the meme— available in red, white, and tan— directing potential buyers to the Team Swish website. The hats went on sale for $40 last night and sold out almost immediately, but feel free to keep monitoring the page for updates.

While I’d love to think Smith is personally profiting off of the sales of the headwear, the proceeds will actually benefit the J.R. Smith Family Assist Foundation, a “charity dedicated to assisting underserved children in their health, personal development, education and enjoyment of life.” There’s nothing better than a good laugh for a good cause.
