Warren Sapp is facing a misdemeanor charge and authorities have ordered him to stay away from City Hall after he allegedly interfered with and harassed city employees in Hollywood, Florida.

Police charged the 53-year-old Pro Football Hall of Famer with one count of interference with city employees in the performance of official duties. Additionally, they instructed Sapp to stay at least 500 feet away from building staff and to avoid interaction with victims or witnesses, according to Local 10 News. He must also call the pretrial services office twice per week.

According to an incident report from the Hollywood Police Department, Warren Sapp made an “unusual amount of requests” and prevented a female city employee from performing her duties while he was at the police department’s headquarters.

Sapp also allegedly refused to stop recording video inside the station after a Hollywood police lieutenant repeatedly told him that he was not allowed to record video inside an official police area.

Several weeks later, according to another court filing, Sapp visited the Hollywood Police Department again. While there, a city employee described him in a statement as being “rude, aggressive and intimidating.”

In a video later posted on Instagram, Warren Sapp said he was “just trying to do right,” adding that he wanted “to see what was happening in my city hall where we pay a lot of money and they gave themselves a raise.” He also claimed that police officers assaulted him while at the station and filed a complaint with internal affairs.

Warren Sapp addressed the charges made against him

During an interview with WSVN News this week, Sapp said his encounters with City Hall are his way of teaching a “generation of young men” by keeping tabs on what local governments are doing.

“Me and my boys, when I was 16, 17, standing on that corner, they would roll up on us and yell, ‘Get on the ground,’ and we all had to drop on the ground and then digging in our pockets as fast as we could, pull out ID,” Sapp said. “That’s a Fourth Amendment violation. We have the right to peacefully assemble on that corner, right there on that sidewalk.”

He also said they moved his case to the “mental health division” and laughed when the interviewer asked him if he is mentally unwell.

“I feel well every morning I wake up,” said Sapp. “I don’t have no issues when I wake in the morning and get going.”

Sapp says he is unbothered by the charge against him and will continue to be a nuisance in the name of defending people’s freedoms and liberties, and seeking “transparency and accountability.”

“I’ve never been a nice guy. You think I give a damn about what you think of me? I know who and what I am,” said Sapp, adding, “It ain’t done. It ain’t done. I’ve got a June 10 court date, bro. It ain’t even done,” said Sapp. “Not even a little bit.”
