Justin Jefferson has been an absolute machine since his rookie campaign. He’s been the driving force of the Minnesota Vikings offense for the last three seasons now.
However, he’s still under his rookie contract through 2023 and Minnesota has the choice to pick up his fifth-year option, making him a free agent in 2025.
With that in mind, it sounds like the Vikings are already looking to sign Justin Jefferson to an extension well before he even sniffs free agency. According to Dov Kleiman, Minnesota has begun “preliminary contract conversations,” with their superstar wide receiver. They’re aiming to give him a massive contract extension.
The #Vikings are working on a contract extension with star WR Justin Jefferson and have began a preliminary contract conversations, per the team.

If that’s the case, Jefferson will have a chance to not only re-set the wide receiver market but potentially make NFL history. Typically, the largest contracts go to quarterbacks but Justin Jefferson could certainly fetch one of the highest contracts we’ve seen for a non-quarterback player.
As you can imagine, Vikings fans are all for it.

Did anybody else think of Jerry Maguire too?

We might hear everybody’s jaws hit the floor whenever the Vikings finally pay Justin Jefferson.

This is ultimately a smart move for Minnesota. Jefferson has established himself as a superstar and there is no reason to play games. Pay the man and keep him for the long haul. Now we just wait for the official contract to be signed later in the offseason.
