Bears DL Justin Jones Hits Patriots With Bold Cheating Accusation Ahead Of ‘Monday Night Football’ Matchup

Bears DL Justin Jones Thinks Patriots Are Still Deflating Balls

In 2015, the NFL was rocked by one of the dumbest scandals in the history of the league after the Colts accused the Patriots of illegally deflating the footballs Tom Brady and the rest of the New England offense used in the AFC Championship Game.

It didn’t take long for the controversy dubbed “Deflategate” to spiral out of control after the powers that be launched a lengthy investigation that spawned a report that suggested the Patriots had engaged in unscrupulous behavior while stopping short of definitively accusing them of cheating.

However, Roger Goodell and Co. determined there was enough evidence to hit the franchise with a $1 million fine, forced them to forfeit multiple draft picks, and suspend Tom Brady for four games for his involvement and failure to cooperate with the consultants hired to look into the matter (which led to a lengthy battle in a federal court that saw the suspension vacated and subsequently reinstated before the QB brought the saga to a merciful end by agreeing to serve it at the start of the 2016 season).

Based on the amount of time, effort, and money Deflategate ultimately cost the Patriots, you’d think the team would take very special care to not expose itself to a similar headache going forward. However, there’s at least one person who seems to think New England is still grabbing that particular tactic from its bag of dirty tricks.

It’s been around two-and-a-half years since Brady opted to take his talents to Tampa Bay, and while things now look very different in New England, there are still some notable vestiges of the Patriots dynasty still hanging around in Foxborough—including Bill Belichick.

Deflategate isn’t the only time the Patriots have been accused of bending (or snapping) the rules during Belichick’s tenure, so it’s easy to understand why some people might be skeptical the team has turned over a new leaf in recent years.

That group is apparently home to Bears DL Justin Jones, who told Mark Carman he’s heard shady deflating is “still going on” in New England and is planning on personally inspecting the balls ahead of the matchup between the two teams on Monday night.

It feels like Jones may have had a better chance of catching the Patriots red-handed if he’d kept this plan to himself as opposed to sharing it with a reporter who blasted it out to the masses, but hey, what do I know?
