Throughout this NFL offseason, it has been the league’s running backs whose holdouts have been
stealing the headlines.

Saquon Barkley had a brief holdout before agreeing to a small raise for the 2023 season.

Josh Jacobs still isn’t at camp because he’s unhappy about being stuck with the franchise tag for the coming season.

Jonathan Taylor is also in the midst of an issue with the Indianapolis Colts right now because of his contract situation and a comment by the team’s owner, but it’s an injury that is reportedly the reason he isn’t available right now.

While those running backs have gotten a lot of the focus, there is one player at another position whose holdout may actually be more notable.

Fresh off of winning a Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs and earning a 1st-Team All-Pro nod, Chris Jones is also looking for a new contract this offseason.

Jones has just 1 year left on his current contract and has been holding out of camp as he tries to get himself an extension.

The Kansas City Chiefs have publicly shared their optimism about a deal getting done, but the beginning of their pre-season schedule is quickly approaching without Jones back at camp.

Today, he shared a cryptic tweet amid the contract dispute that may have some fans a bit worried.

So far, reports have indicated that the Chiefs don’t have any intention to trade Jones this offseason, but maybe they’re changing their stance as his holdout drags on.

He could also just be reminding Chiefs fans that he loves them in spite of his current contract situation with the franchise.

Maybe it means the holdout is almost over

After racking up 15.5 sacks last season, Chris Jones would be a tough loss for the Chiefs if they really did end up trading him.

That’s an outcome his teammates and Kansas City Chiefs fans will be hoping can be avoided as the team prepares to defend their throne as NFL champions.
