7 weeks into the NFL season, the Kansas Chiefs are once again viewed as one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl.

Much of the belief in this team centers around their high-powered offense. The team is averaging the most points in the league despite trading Tyreek Hill and turning to a committee approach at wide receiver featuring Juju Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Mecole Hardman.

The offense has propelled the Chiefs to a 5-2 record, but now they’re looking to make their defense even more intimidating as well.

According to a report from Albert Brees, the Chiefs are interested in adding Jacksonivlle Jaguars edge rusher Josh Allen.

Allen’s name is one that has been brought up in reports recently as a player that could be available in a blockbuster trade before the deadline as the Jaguars become sellers during another losing season.

While it’s difficult to see why the Jags would be interested in trading such a young talent who can form a formidable pass rush with this year’s number 1 overall pick, it’s obvious why the Chiefs would want him.

The Chiefs have had an above-average pass rush this season, averaging the 10th most sacks per game in the league, but adding Allen to play alongside Frank Clark and Chris Jones would make them a truly terrifying pass rush.

Allen has already proven he can produce at a high level, racking up 10.5 sacks as a rookie, and he already has 3 sacks for the Jaguars this season.

A trade for Allen would give the Chiefs a talented edge rusher on a rookie deal for the next 2 seasons, which would help them navigate the cap as they try to remain a contender.

If the Kansas City Chiefs can land Allen before Tuesday, it would be bad news for the rest of the NFL.
