Kansas Player Appears To Be Fed Up With Baker Mayfield’s Trash Talk, Deliver Dirty Cheap Shot After Play

It’s been a fairly eventful day for Oklahoma Sooners QB and Heisman frontrunner Baker Mayfield. Before today’s Sooners-Jayhawks game, several Jayhawks captains refused to shake Mayfield’s hand during the coin toss which led to a confrontation between Mayfield and a Kansas defender that had to be broken up by a referee.

So, Mayfield and a Kansas player went helmet to helmet after the coin toss. A ref had to run in from the sideline to separate them. And no, I’m not kidding about this.

Mayfield used the snub to motivate him and has been talking trash to Jayhawks players and fans throughout the game. At one point, Mayfield was seen telling Kansas fans sitting behind Oklahoma’s bench to “stick to basketball” because they only had one win.

Late in the third quarter of the game, one Kansas player apparently had enough of Mayfield’s shit and delivered an ugly cheap shot after the play was over resulting in a roughing the passer penalty.

The Jayhawks player was somehow not ejected for the hit and continued to play in the game.

While Mayfield has definitely been cocky and a bit of a dickhead throughout the college football season there’s no reason for him to get cheap shotted like that during the game. Kansas clearly came with an agenda to target Mayfield but they took things a bit too far.

Hopefully nothing else egregious happens to Mayfield during this game and he continue his magical season without injury.
