The University of Kansas and Kansas State University’s football programs are putting their differences aside for just one night on Monday, March 4th at 6:00 p.m. They are teaming up to hold an unprecedented Name, Image and Likeness event called ‘UNRIVALED: United Kansas, Elevating Athletes.’

However, it is not taking place in the Sunflower State. It is being held… in Missouri—

Not Kansas!

A joint fundraiser for the two FBS college football programs in Kansas is set to take place at the Abbott, at 901 Cherry St. in Kansas City, Missouri. They are holding their event in the state of their biggest non-conference rivals and that’s objectively hilarious.

For those who don’t know the actual city of Kansas City is split more or less in half. One side of the city is Kansas City, Kansas. The other side of the city (where most everything is located) is Kansas City, Missouri. Thus, for the event to take place on the fun half makes sense. It’s still very funny.

As for what UNRIVALED actually is, the fundraiser is going to provide attendees with “insights into each coach’s playbook as they take a behind-the-scenes look at constructing competitive programs.” Both head football coaches, Lance Leipold and Chris Klieman, will speak at the event.

Tickets cost $5,000 per head. ALL of the proceeds will go to “support student-athletes at both universities” through NIL opportunities. Kansas and Kansas State are going to split the total funds right down the middle and siphon them back into their respective collectives.

The event will be moderated by Mitch Holthus, who is the voice of the Kansas City Chiefs. The entire evening sounds like it is going to be pretty cool. Except… it is being held in Missouri.

Even if that might not be a big deal to the Wildcats or Jayhawks, the contradictory location is rather comical from an outsider’s perspective. Mizzou fans would agree! They had a good laugh too.
