Kawhi Leonard has missed each of the Los Angeles Clippers’ three games in their playoff series against the Phoenix Suns.

Leonard is out due to a knee sprain and the Clippers have gone from 1-0 up in the series to 3-1 down.

Los Angeles now faces a first-round elimination and yet another disappointing season after acquiring superstars Leonard and Paul George in 2019.

But it turns out that Leonard may all have much, much bigger things than basketball weighing on him at the moment.

Leonard’s sister, Kimesha Williams, was sentenced to life in prison on Saturday for her role in the killing of an 84-year-old woman.

ESPN reports that the incident took place in a bathroom casino.

“Kimesha Williams, one of Leonard’s sisters, and Candace Townsel were convicted in February for the murder of 84-year-old Afaf Assad in a bathroom at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California. Sentencing for the first-degree murder convictions was handed down Friday,” the report said.

“According to reports, Williams and Townsel went to the casino on Aug. 31, 2019, and Assad and her husband entered with a purse containing approximately $1,000 for gambling. When Assad went into a bathroom, Williams allegedly followed her and Townsel stayed outside to be the lookout.

A short time later, a woman in another stall heard a loud thud. Williams and Townsel were seen fleeing to the exit. Assad was found bleeding on the floor. She had a fractured skull and died four days later. Williams denied killing Assad in a statement read by her attorney at the sentencing hearing.”

Back on the court, it appears Leonard’s season is likely over.

Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report states that there is “no timetable for the star’s return.” And with both he and George out, the Clippers aren’t likely to extent the series much further against Phoenix.
