Kay Adams knew something was up when Deebo Samuel made a subtle, but significant change to his Instagram. The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver said it was no big deal.
He lied to her face!
Samuel, who joins the Up & Adams Show every week, quietly changed his Instagram handle from ‘@19problemz’ to ‘@1deebosr’ after the Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Adams took notice and immediately connected the dots. She knew that there was a hidden meaning behind it.
And she was absolutely right! Often Usually is.
Samuel wore No. 1 in college at South Carolina. Single-digit numbers were not available to non-quarterbacks when he was drafted by the 49ers in 2019. Thus, the second-round pick chose No. 19.
That rule changed two years later. The NFL allowed receivers and defensive backs to wear single-digit numbers on their jerseys.
Adam asked Samuel if the Instagram change indicated a number change. His answer was a lie.

It seemed as though Adams knew he was fibbing, especially based on his inability to hold back laughter. He looked mighty suspicious and her smirk said it all.
Sure enough, it was announced on Tuesday that Deebo Samuel is changing his number from 19 to 1! Adams called him out as soon as the news dropped.
Even Calvin Ridley took note. That led the morning show host to try and get the free agent pass-catcher to reveal his next team!
Though Ridley did not take Adams’ bait, it was a valiant effort.
At this point in the offseason, whatever she predicts has come true. Kay Adams might already know Ridley’s next destination even though he might not know himself.
As was made clear by Samuel’s Instagram change and corresponding jersey number swap, she has a sense for these things. At least Ridley didn’t tell her a bold-faced lie like his pass-catching counterpart!
