Kansas City Chiefs fullback Anthony Sherman isn’t happy with the way some teams are differentiating vaccinated and unvaccinated players.
For the past week several NFL teams have decided to have unvaccinated players wear wristbands on the field during practice which led to some backlash from the NFLPA.
The NFL and the NFLPA are also at odds over the use of wristbands to identity unvaccinated players, per sources. The NFL is allowing clubs to to make players wear bright colored wristbands, which the NFLPA believes is unnecessary. Talks to continue. https://t.co/nGnFSCafI1

JC Tretter, President of the NFLPA, says that the NFL is using the “wristband method” to differentiate between vaccinated and unvaccinated players is solely for shaming players publicly. Says it’s nonsensical, especially when teams know which players are and aren’t vaccinated.

Sherman took his criticism of the wristband system a step further and compared players being forced to wear wristbands to racial segregation in the 1960s.
The @NFL is making players wear colored wrist bands now based on vaccination status. Funny, I thought we all agreed on the evils of segregation back in the 60s. Here we are again- only this time it’s based on personal health choices instead of skin color.

The league clearly values being woke, not awake. What a shame. And what a sham.

Fans were clearly not happy with Sherman’s comparison and quickly blasted him for it.
That’s the whole point. What made segregation unethical was that people were being held back by something they couldn’t just choose not to be. Anti-vaxxers choosing to put everyone around them at risk is something they could always just not do.

Wait until he finds out about how restaurants used to have smoking and non-smoking sections. How dare they separate customers like that? And even worse, once they found out smoking sections weren't healthy they just got rid of them! Those poor persecuted smokers. https://t.co/alBclqn3pG

Are the cops gonna turn the fire hoses and dogs on you because of vaccination status?
No, they're not.
JFC, be smarter than this stupidassed tweet. https://t.co/73HeYO98Mb— T.Biggs (@TBiggsTequila) July 31, 2021
Him choosing to compare vaccinations to segregation while being on a 90% black team is certainly a choice!

the nfl: wear a wristband to let other people know you’re not vaccinated.
anthony sherman: THATS LIKE WHEN BLACK PEOPLE COUDLNT DRINK AT WATER FOUNTANS AND RIDE THE BUSES AND USE BATHROOMS AND REDLINING AND EAT AT LUNCH COUNTERS AND HAD TO GO TO SEPARATE SCHOOLS

.@Shermanator_42 comparing racial segregation and oppression to not getting a vaccine is just about the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen https://t.co/rAFI7BqmOi

Truly awful, segregation in sports.
I mean, the home team has to wear the white jersey and the away team wears the grey jersey???? What kinda divide are they trying to put people through! https://t.co/qOsm69zVMF
