You may not know the name Kemon Spell, because David Gabriel Georges gets all of the headlines, but he is actually the top-ranked running back in the college football recruiting Class of 2027. The Pennsylvania high school football star will get paid a lot of NIL money at Georgia next season.
However, it was not his biggest offer!
There is a lot of money in college football these days. Not every school is willing to open the checkbook in the same way.
Who is Kemon Spell?
Everybody keeps talking about David Gabriel Georges, and for good reason. The Tennessee pledge is going to make $2 million as a true freshman in 2027. He continues to make some of the most ridiculous plays you will ever see on the gridiron. For example:
Meanwhile, Kemon Spell continues to move in silence. All he does is “put his head down and work.”
Spell ranks as the No. 2 player in Pennsylvania and the No. 10 player in the Class of 2027. The No. 1 player at his position earned 21 scholarship offers from schools all over the country. Georgia received his commitment.
Spell ran for 1,755 yards and 28 touchdowns in only nine games as a junior. He also scored one receiving touchdown, two punt-return touchdowns and one kickoff-return touchdown.
The 5-foot-9, 205-pound running back is nearing 4,000 career rushing yards as he enters his senior year at McKeesport High School in Pennsylvania. The Tigers are set to begin their season on Friday night.
How much money will he make from his NIL deal at Georgia?
With Gabriel Georges set to make $2 million as a freshman at Tennessee, one would assume that the player ranked ahead of him would get paid more. That is not the case.
Georgia is not as quick to spend big money on unproven high school prospect. Even the star upperclassmen are not making as much as some of their counterparts at other schools. Kirby Smart takes a more traditional approach to recruiting.
Don’t get me wrong, the Bulldogs are still spending a lot of money but not quite as much as the biggest spenders in college football. They aren’t quite on par with the Texas Techs and LSUs.
Kemon Spell recently told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette exactly how much he is going to get paid in his first season of college football. Georgia is going to pay him $1 million as a true freshman in 2027! It was not his best offer. He’ll get paid in the NFL.
“I could’ve gotten more money from other places, but I picked Georgia for the reasons that I want to get to the NFL and I’ll be coached by the best guy [Kirby Smart] each and every day. He’s going to be on me and coach me hard. I didn’t pick Georgia for the money. I picked it for the development piece and getting to the [NFL].”
To each their own! It’s not like a seven-figure paycheck isn’t a lot of money for an 18-year-old. Must be nice!
