The college basketball world was equally parts stunned, disappointed and overjoyed Monday night when the LSU Tigers women’s basketball team was upset by the Colorado Buffaloes.

The 20th ranked Buffaloes took down the number one ranked Tigers 92-78 in a game that LSU never really threatened to win.

It was disappointing considering the fact that the reigning champions had both Angel Reese and Flau’jae Johnson back and had added one of the top point guards in the nation in Hailey Van Lith.

Certainly no one expected a team led by head coach Kim Mulkey, she of the wild coats and career .860 wining percentage, would get boatraced in their very first game of the season.

Not that people didn’t enjoy it.

After the way some of the players and Mulkey herself behaved during the National Championship game versus Iowa last year, many college basketball fans couldn’t have been happier.

One moment during the game in particular, with LSU down 74-55 in the fourth quarter, was especially enjoyable for fans who dislike LSU.

That moment, showing Kim Mulkey glaring out at the court, was almost immediately turned into a meme.

“When your mom made you wear a stupid outfit and you can’t go home til she’s ready,” read another comment.

“She wants to see a manager,” another fan joked.

“When the corner store doesn’t have anymore Marlboro Reds,” read another meme.

“When the Door Dash person forgets the straw,” another fan wrote.

As we’ve seen, that is never going to happen.

“You live with poor shooting, you live with just a tough night offensively,” Mulkey said after the game. “What I don’t live with is just guts and fight and physical play, and just that dog in you. I just didn’t think we had that tonight.”

Like, say, Caitlin Clark has, for example?
