Kiyan Anthony might best be known as the son of Carmelo Anthony, but the four-star prospect in the college basketball recruiting Class of 2025 is carving out a path of his own. He took a notable visit over the weekend and got some love from LeBron James during the trip.

However, the timing was pretty ironic.

Carmelo, one of the greatest small forwards in NBA history, was a 10-time All-Star after being drafted No. 3 overall out of Syracuse in 2003. His time in upstate New York led his No. 15 jersey to be retired after winning a national championship with the Orange and being named the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player.

His son, Kiyan, stands 6-foot-5, 185 pounds. Although the Long Island-native is listed as a shooting guard, he could end up moving out to the wing like his father when it’s all said and done.

There is still plenty of time to figure all of that out. Kiyan is still two years away from having to make a decision on where to play in college, and as a top-50 prospect overall, he will have his pick of the litter.

His game is not too dissimilar from his father’s. Kiyan can hoop!

As of right now, the high school junior has scholarship offers from 17 schools, including Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Memphis, Michigan, Tennessee, Seton Hall, Providence and Dayton, among others. Kiyan also has offers from Syracuse (his dad’s alma mater) and Florida State— which is what brought the irony to this weekend.

Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan took an official visit to Florida State.

Carmelo, Kiyan and LaLa Anthony traveled south to Tallahassee to see what’s up with the Seminoles. Of course, he and his homies had to hit ‘The Shedeur’ during their photoshoot.

Meanwhile, not far from the basketball arena, Florida State football played against… Syracuse! It was unclear if the family hung around to watch the game on Saturday morning, but if they did, Carmelo would have been a guest of the Seminoles while rooting for the Orange.

Perhaps Kiyan’s visit was a front so that his dad could watch his team?! Things that make you go hm…

Either way, King James gave the young Anthony a shoutout on Instagram.

Everything about Kiyan’s official visit appeared to be a success— except for Carmelo’s jersey. They couldn’t have provided him with a bigger size?!
