Next month, the most talented prospects in the country will flock to Brooklyn for the 2019 NBA Draft and there is little doubt which name will leave Adam Silver’s mouth when he takes the stage for the first time that night.
It’s a virtual certainty that Zion Williamson will be the top pick in this year’s draft but we won’t know where he’s going to end up until tonight’s lottery, where one lucky team will be rewarded for an underwhelming season with one of biggest up-and-coming names in recent memory.
In theory, any team that didn’t make the playoffs has a shot to land the top spot but the Suns, Cavaliers, and Knicks are currently the favorites to receive it with each one being granted a 14% chance to give Willamson a bunch of money.
Any team would be lucky to land the budding superstar but it appeared there was perhaps no one as thirsty as the Knicks. They went into full tank mode after trading Kristaps Porzingis in what appeared to be a shameless play to go after the Duke phenom, who has previously expressed interest in playing for the Knicks (probably because it beats the hell out of living in Phoenix or Cleveland).
However, it appears that loving feeling might be gone, gone, gone.
According to Stadium, the Knicks already have a plan in place if they do get the first pick in the draft and it has nothing to do with acquiring Williamson, as they’ve seemingly become infatuated with Anthony Davis.

If the report is to be believed, the Knicks would attempt to put together a package that would get Davis to head north and allow another team to pick up what could be a generational star in the form of Williamson while using their shiny new object to lure other free agents to Madison Square Garden.
While there’s a chance it could work, I personally think it would be a very “Knicks” move and more than a few fans seemed to agree.

This should be a fun offseason.
