Kurt Warner is one of the most decorated passers in NFL history. The Hall of Famer won two MVPs, made four Pro Bowls, and took home a Lombardi trophy.

His son, EJ, is hoping to follow in his father’s footsteps. He made a decision this week in an attempt to achieve that goal.

EJ Warner has been the starting signal caller at Temple each of the last two seasons. He’s posted back-to-back 3,000-yard campaigns while posting a 41-to-24 touchdown to interception ratio.

Unfortunately, the Owls have gone just 6-18 during his time on campus, leading him to enter the transfer portal.

He’ll certainly garner some interest given his passing success in the AAC, and his father was the first to commend the transfer decision online.

As a father, I’m forever grateful to Temple and coach Stan Drayton for their impact on EJ off the field and for shaping him into an ALL-American and one of nation’s Top 5 passers on the field,” Kurt Warner’s reply post read. “I couldn’t be more excited about what lies ahead for this incredible young man! #ProudPapa.”

Warner’s excitement would soon fade as he had to fend off social media trolls bashing his son online.

The former NFL passer went to war with those bashing his son’s decision, as well as his praise of EJ’s time at Temple.

He engaged with a number of accounts questioning his son’s ability, taking justified offense to the criticisms.

Some people just love to be unhappy!

Kurt Warner took it in stride, though the trolling upset him enough to respond.

As for EJ, he’s been linked to programs like Kansas State, Maryland, Syracuse, and Nebraska, where his brother spent the majority of his college career.

It will be interesting to see how his recruitment plays out. One thing is for sure – his dad will have his back.
