We may currently live in the Golden Age of The Hot Take thanks to the many talking heads who make a living spouting controversial opinions on the radio stations and television networks that rely on their ability to rustle jimmies to survive, but it would be foolish to argue that hasn’t really always been the case.
The internet has undoubtedly contributed to the proliferation of programs centered around heated debates, but the “People Yelling Loudly About Subjective Opinions” approach has long served as the foundation of virtually every sports radio show and spawned plenty of notable television moments prior to the rise of the World Wide Web.
With that said, you can typically expect exchanges on the airwaves to be a bit more civilized and absent of the colorful language you’d be treated to while sitting in a barbershop, on a barstool, or scrolling through Twitter threads filled with death threats and challenges to meet up in real life to throw hands.
However, as Jim Rome learned when Jim “Not Chris” Everett joined him in the studio over 25 years ago, things can occasionally go off the rails—especially when we’re talking about live TV.
Kyle Brandt learned that lesson the hard way during Tuesday’s edition of Good Morning Football, as the co-host fell victim to a bit of a brain fart during a conversation concerning Cooper Kupp’s standout season.
Things seemed to be going pretty smoothly while Brandt and his co-hosts debated where the wide receiver’s season ranks in the pantheon of the best offensive campaign by a non-quarterback, but that all changed when he unexpectedly dropped an f-bomb out of nowhere before immediately putting himself in timeout.
