‘Check On Your Kid’s Mental Health’ Kyren Lacy’s Father Posts Heartbreaking Message After Son’s Death

The father of LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy is speaking out after his son’s tragic death. On Sunday morning, it was reported that Lacy had died a day before he was set to stand trial for a deadly hit-and-run accident that happened earlier this year.

His death is a suspected suicide, a source said.

Lacy was arrested earlier this year on charges related to a deadly hit-and-run crash in Lafourche Parish.

A grand jury was set to start hearing evidence in the case tomorrow morning

According to Harris County police, Lacy died of a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound after being chased by authorities after he allegedly fired a gun during an argument with a family member.

At around 11:15 p.m. Saturday night, deputies with Harris County Pct. 4 deputies responded to a call reporting a disturbance involving a weapon.

The caller reported that she was in an argument with a family member who had discharged a gun into the ground. The family member would later be identified as 24-year-old Kyren Lacy.

When deputies arrived at the scene, Lacy was gone. A description of his vehicle was broadcasted to local authorities.

HCSO Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Units conducted an investigation of the incident. Preliminary information indicates Lacy shot himself during the pursuit, prior to the vehicle crashing.

A handgun was recovered from the interior of the vehicle. A review of the Pct. 4 units’ body camera and in-car dash-mounted video did not indicate any shots were fired after the pursuit ended.
