Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey turned heads in a major way at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL. The Bulldog star successfully worked his way up NFL boards as he repeatedly got the best of opposing defensive backs.

Despite the success, McConkey stayed humble. He quickly became one of the most likeable prospects in the draft class while continuing to prove his worth.

McConkey’s career at UGA was a storied one. Winning two national championships, he racked up 1,687 yards over his final three seasons after serving as a scout team member during his first year on campus.

Now, he’s looking ahead to the NFL.

McConkey entered the week viewed as a Top 20 wideout in this year’s draft class, with most believing he’d be picked on Day 2 or early in Day 3.

In an attempt to better that draft outlook, he took part in the Senior Bowl last week.

It worked!

He more than succeeded in grabbing the attention of coaches and scouts in attendance, getting the better of his opposition at nearly every turn.

As a result, some have bumped him up in mock drafts, with ESPN’s latest projection seeing him go just outside the first round to Carolina.

Leading up to gameday, McConkey was voted the week’s most impressive pass catcher. Defensive backs couldn’t keep up!

When gameday came, he continued to flash.

Despite the success against his draft class foes, McConkey kept humble. When speaking with the media in that Peach State southern drawl, his focus on the task at hand was visible.

“It’s a chance to make an impression on these coaches, these scouts… Another chance to compete,” he replied when asked about the Senior Bowl opportunity. “It’s football, I’m just out here having fun.”

He also wished success for his Georgia teammates in attendance, even those lining up across from him on the defensive side of the ball.

McConkey did everything in his power to boost his stock ahead of April’s NFL Draft, and his week might’ve been highlighted by a pair of visits from the Philadelphia Eagles. In the right situation, his shiftiness and route running abilities could make him a real threat at the next level.
